Help millions access their rights and justice

Upsolve is an award-winning nonprofit technology startup that helps the victims of our broken financial system get back on their feet. Bankruptcy is a lifeline for Americans because it wipes their slate clean, improves their credit, and increases their chances of getting a job. We're starting with bankruptcy, but we aim to change the financial and legal systems in America.

Last year, 19 million American households would have benefitted from filing for bankruptcy but fewer than half a million did file. This is because it’s impossible for low-income people to file for bankruptcy, due to complicated forms and lawyers cost $2,000 on average. At Upsolve, you’ll help more clients in one month than many nonprofits help in multiple years. We’re supported by the top funders in our space. This includes the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, ex-Google CEO Eric Schmidt, the Robin Hood Foundation, and the U.S. Government. Meet the team!

Here are recent articles about Upsolve from the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and Bloomberg.

Upsolve is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that started in 2016. Our mission is to help low-income families who cannot afford lawyers file bankruptcy for free, using an online web app. Our team includes lawyers, engineers, and judges. We have world-class funders that include the U.S. government, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, and leading foundations. It's one of the greatest civil rights injustices of our time that low-income families can't access their basic rights when they can't afford to pay for help. Combining direct services and advocacy, we're fighting this injustice.
